High-gloss unpainted Class A surface materials for interiors
21 Oct 2025
Innovation Showcase: Tuesday, October 21, morning session
The use of high-gloss black plastic in interior and exterior applications has emerged as a superior alternative to traditional painted plastic. These innovative materials offer several advantages, including enhanced aesthetics, good durability, sustainability and reduced overall cost. The elimination of paint from molded plastic parts is key to the reduction of the piece cost, reduced secondary costs and improved sustainability. There are two product families that can achieve this while maintaining the aesthetic and durability requirements, and these will be discussed during this session.
- There are commercial applications in the interior that already use high-gloss black components, replacing traditional painted parts
- The value proposition the removal of paint brings in cost, logistics and sustainability
- Design considerations to move from an injection-molded part to a high-gloss unpainted component
